Do steel house rust?

No. All BLOX home is built from cold formed steel which is very strong and light-weighted. Every piece of steel is powder coated from the factory, ensuring that the house is free from rust, volatile organic compounds (VOC), or other toxic chemicals. You can live happily in BLOX home while enjoying cozy, relaxed and safe living environment.

Is it strong enough?

You can rest assured of BLOX houses. Built to the international standard and in compliance with related legal requirements in Thailand, BLOX houses are very strong and can stand against strong wind and earthquake. They are not easily broken as concrete structure.

Is it hotter than a concrete house?

No need to worry about in-home temperature. Thanks to advanced technology, BLOX houses are made from 0.5-mm sandwich panel, comprising two steel sheets with PIR foam in the middle. PIR foam, which is used as insulation, has low heat conductivity and is fire retardant, and therefore can effectively prevent heat from outside. Our calculation shows that BLOX wall panels can prevent heat 6 times better than 7.5-cm q-con blocks. Sandwich panels have been highly popular in other countries for years.

Will BLOX house remain cool without air-conditioning?

In-home temperature depends on many factors, such as construction materials, wind direction, and sun direction. BLOX has selected high quality materials with low thermal conductivity for the roof and walls. Its modern design also ensures that the position of windows and doors allow the best possible ventilation and open to natural light, providing not too bright and cozy living. In-home temperature also depends on the outside temperature and also the house location.

Generally, a knocked down house lasts for 10-20 years. Will BLOX houses stay longer?

BLOX houses last as long as a concrete house because we carefully select only materials that are of high quality. More importantly, every single piece is made and finished at production plant, which can guarantee world-class standard strength, safety, hygiene and durability.

Which parts of the houses are covered under BLOX warranty and for how long? At the end of warranty, who is responsible for maintenance and will BLOX provide support on this?

If I want to remove or relocate the house, should I contact BLOX or should I hire any contractor?

To minimize risk of damaging any part of the house, especially sandwich panel wall and roof, during relocation, we recommend you to contact BLOX. Our full team of experienced technicians and contractors have been well trained for this job and can make your house relocation easy, efficient and safe.

Is the house heavy? How much does it weigh? What should I do to prepare the area for construction?

BLOX houses are made from light-weighted yet strong and durable steel structure, roof and walls. A BLOX Biz house weighs as much as an SUV and can accommodate maximum weights comparable to 30 adults. A BLOX Junior and BLOX Senior type weighs 3.4 tons and 4 tons respectively.

To prepare the ground for a BLOX house construction, if you are living in Bangkok and suburbs where the soil is soft and sinks every year, we recommend you to use one hexagonal pile every meter. When the soil sinks, the entire area will sink together and will not break. If you live in other area where the soil is hard, you may not need piling but making 12-cm concrete base for the house. However, this depends on the soil condition in each particular location. How do I assemble the house?

No need to worry. Our highly experienced team will bring everything to your site and assemble it piece by piece using bolt & nuts. It’s as easy as constructing your dream with Lego blocks. The entire process will be completed within 1-7 days.

Can I adjust the design?

Do I need to apply for construction permit?

Yes, you do. But you don’t need to worry. BLOX house is a small building. The permit application process is generally less and takes shorter time to approve when compared to a normal house or big building permit application.

When compared BLOX and a concrete house, which one is more expensive and for how much?

In general, building a concrete house costs higher and is more difficult to control cost. BLOX house cost is clearly announced and you can see it before you make decision. There is no additional cost during the construction. You can then control cost more effectively. In addition, it takes less time to build a BLOX house as it can be completed within 1-7 days (not including ground preparation and piling). More importantly, assembling a BLOX house is clean as it does not create dust and construction waste, and does not cause loud noise continuously for a long period of time.

Since the roof is made of steel, will it be noisy when it rains?

A BLOX house is designed to be a comfortable living place, your sanctuary, so we have carefully selected high-quality materials for you. The roof is made of sandwich panels, the same as walls, which has high-quality foam as insulation in the middle. This foam works not only as insulation but also sound proof panels. When it rains, it won’t create undesirable noises as other steel or corrugate roof does.

There is no shade at all. Will rain leak into the house?

You can rest assured of no such problem. BLOX houses are designed by our team of veteran architects who have long years of experience in designing comfortable and modern homes for Thai customers. All BLOX house types are, therefore, designed to make you live comfortably and happily. The careful selection of high-quality materials and assembling will ensure no leakage, lower temperature under the roof and respect to the environment.

Can a BLOX house stand strong wind and storm?

BLOX walls have passed the wind test by BlueScope, an Australian-based international institute specialized in wind test and certification. The test proves that BLOX house can stand wind speed of up to 159.19 km/hour.

Will the foam insulation ignite quickly?

BLOX has carefully selected PIR foam, which is the latest development reputable for its fire-retardant quality. It is certified by TÜV SÜD for fire resistance according to the UK standard and FM Global of the US.

Can I hang paintings or attach a hook on the wall?

Yes, of course. You can hang shelves, paintings or mirrors to your like. Each must not be heavier than 30 kg/sqm. It is highly recommended that you hang things on the seam of each wall panel, which is stronger part, and use rivets as the hooks.
